Annodex at W3C Video Workshop

Michael Dale, Chris Double and Silvia Pfeiffer in December 2007 attended the W3C Video Workshop and presented about the new video element in Mozilla and what cool things can be done with Ogg on the Web. Michael showed off the Mediawiki extensions he created that demonstrates what "Web integrated video" can really mean.

EthnoER - linguists using Annodex

Linguists are using Annodex to transcribe and share their research data online. It's an awesome outcome of the EthnoER project at Sydney University and may set the standard for the future of ethnographic research!

linux plugin update

I've just put up a newer version of the plugin that doesn't hang at the end of audio-only files. I suspect this bug was not specific to Linux, either, so I'll try to get Windows and Mac versions up soon.

Shane's presentation on Annodex for us in ethnographic research

I just found this: Shane gave a presentation in the ethnographic research community about the use of Annodex for fieldwork, archiving and retrieval called "The Annodex Platform" - the link has Shane's presentation slides and a mp3 file.

I just upgraded drupal to version 5.2. I hope that with this upgrade, the site will be more stable. I apologize for the downtime - it was much more difficult to get all the modules and site code in sync and up to date than I expected. But then - we hand't done an updated in a long time.

Drupal turned out to have a very nice update script now, where everything is done through the web interface. Quite nice really.

I am planning to install a spam module so we can get the spam problem under control.

Anodex Plugin for Firefox installers released

Annodex Plugin for Firefox installers have been made available for Windows, Linux and Mac OSX (PowerPC only). These are the best way to view Annodex media! Get them here, and try them out at our cmmlwiki installation.

Annodex mailing lists back online

After a move from CSIRO's servers to Xiph's servers, the Annodex mailing lists are now back online again. Thanks to both organisations for their support.

Skeleton and annodex support extended

As part of Google SoC 2006 Ogg skeleton and anndoex support has been extended to some new tools. Skeleton supports have been added to vorbisfile, ffmpeg2thoera, oggenc, speex, oggzinfo and cortado. speex and cortado also supports cmml. The source listing is here.
